Bill Board Project
Opposes U.S. Military support for Israel
Beaver County Peace Links, a long-standing peace and justice group in Western PA, successfully concluded a project in August opposing the use of U.S. taxpayer funds to back the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
$30,000,000,000 / US Aid to Israel? / www.canweaffordit.com was the simple message placed on a sizable billboard on the Ohio River Boulevard, a major commuter highway to Pittsburgh, and across from a major shopping center. But the last line drew interested people to a website with much more information opposing militarism.
The site received a number of responses, pro and con, over the two months that it was up. CCDS members planned in the organization of the project.

Sponsors Class on the
US Constitution-and more!
About 15 PDA activists, including a number of CCDS members in Western PA recently took part in an 8-week course centered on a study of the U.S. Constitution and how its war shaped by mass struggles in American history.
“A few workers approached me with the idea of the class,” said Carl Davidson, CCDS national co-chair. “They were running into debates with people at work influenced by Tea Party over whether health care and other matters were ‘constitutional,’ and wanted to get to the bottom of it.’
Progressive Democrats of America agreed to sponsor the class at the local Beaver County Community College after work. The sessions covered how people in the new world were governed from the time before the arrival of people from Europe and Africa, and all the changes made over time, covering theories of property, the state, and the battles for democracy.
It was a great success, with many on the students asking, ‘What’s next?’ urging more classes on subjects of interest to workers and community residents. The eight powerpoint outlines of the classes, with many interesting graphics, are available online at http://tinyurl.com/pda-constitution-class
